  • Veterans day

So the other day being veterans day left me with some conflicted feelings.

I appreciate our veterans quite a bit. They sacrifice a lot of their personal freedoms for their job.  These freedoms are something that I often don’t feel I could sacrifice myself. But without them our freedoms would be sacrificed.

The conflicted feelings come in because I love and hate our soldiers right now.  one of my most honest friends is a veteran. good guy always making something good for himself and trys to earn an honest living in the face of opposition.  yet at the same time I have heard some of the most fucked up things come out of a soldiers mouth. one soldier tried to explain to me that he was glad to be deploying because he would rather be shot at and in danger all the time than deal with his pregnant wife.

Then again I suppose being cheated on, and that girl going for a man in uniform doesn’t help my opinion of them. Which is too bad because the other guy had no idea that he wasn’t the only one either, and he seemed like a cool enough kid.
